Ionic v/s React Native: App development Framework Trends

Ionic and react-native are cross-platform mobile app development frameworks that are highly in demand by the programmers to develop high-quality mobile apps. In both the frameworks there are differences in the aspects of development and outcomes of the app-quality.

Well, both are hybrid frameworks that give faster development processes and good responsive experience to the app users but there are some comparisons by which we can know which is the better option for developing the mobile apps.

  • Platforms

The ionic platform has different and unique pre-styled and pre-made components that help the developers with good customization. It allows you to develop iOS apps, android apps, desktop apps, PWAs, and other web assisting platforms using HTML/CSS/JS.

The react native framework has few pre-made components and it utilizes the React JS framework. It provides a Native UI element at the time of execution which allows you to build native mobile apps for iOS and Androids.

  • Documentation

The ionic framework docs are consistent, clear and give an eye-catching appearance. Ionics have the consistency of understanding the platform components and knows how to fix the rare instances where the built-in documentations are not sufficient.  The ionic application development helps the developers to use from the multiple existing elements to design the apps which give them ease of developing the apps.

While we compare to react-native the documentations are basic and for built-in components, there are auto-generated API docs, basic intro-tutorials, and straightforward functioning.

  • The ease of use

The apps developed through ionic framework are structured as angular apps exposed inside a custom Cordova Webview and also it has a user –friendly CLI helping the web developers to easily design the apps

When we talk about react native, the cost of structuring is quite less. The JXS approach is much comfortable than the traditional angular approach used in the ionic framework.

  • App testing

The ionic framework has a fast testing cycle through which the apps can be tested in the browser itself and there are no requirements of heavy emulator testing.

For react native apps there should be an emulator or a real device for completing the testing process.

  • The quality of the apps

The most important factor to be considered while using the two technologies is the user experience. The ionic framework focuses more on the UI designing trough which the user interaction with the apps works well. Ionic combined with the apache Cordova framework accesses the hardware functionalities of a device for running different applications.

The apps developed through the react-native framework perform faster than the ionic apps as they compile to native code and can access directly the native features of a device.  React native is constantly in the process of improvement and with every new upgrade by the developers the Mobile app development with react native is interesting and inventive.

We at Digitech have professionals similar to both the frameworks giving the clients the ease of app development of their preferences and requirements.
